Welcome to the Southern Research Centre, Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI). The Southern Research Centre (or SRC) is comprised of academic staff from Flinders University and the University of Tasmania who are engaged in housing research. The Southern Research Centre was established in 2000 and since then it has completed a number of projects of national significance. These include: refugees and housing; evictions and housing management; the role of housing in community development within non-metropolitan regions; attitudes to home ownership amongst younger households; housing for people with complex needs, and housing for the aged.
Researchers from the SRC actively seek research funding and publish broadly. In the past SRC members have received funding from the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute Ltd based in Melbourne, the Government of Tasmania, the Government of South Australia, charitable trusts, the private sector and non-government organisations.
