Wednesday 28th May, 2008 Dr Ben Hillman from the Crawford School of Economics and Government, ANU, Canberra gave a seminar on "China's Tibet policy and underlying causes of the recent unrest in Tibetan China.

Title: "A Decade of Indonesian 'Reformasi' : The Winners and Losers"
Associate Professor Hadiz is a political sociologist with interests in social, political and economic change Indonesia and Southeast Asia, as well as in broader political economy and development questions. In 1996 he recieved his PhD from Murdoch University, where he was Research Fellow at the Asia research Centre before joining NUS in 2000.
He is the author of /Reorganising Power in Indonesia: the Politics of Oligarchy in an Age of Markets /(co-authored with Richard Robison, 2004) and editor of /Empire and Neoliberalism in Asia /(Routledge 2006).

Professor Carl Trocki, Professor of Asian Studies at Queensland University of Technology, gave a guest lecture entitled "Drugs, the Fuel of Empire: Drug Trades and European Expansion".
