Articles should be revised in the light of the assessors' (i.e. teacher's) comments and must be submitted electronically to the editor via e-mail to a.gorman-murray@uws.edu.au

Articles should be accompanied by a scanned copy of the original paper submitted for grading complete with the assessors' comments. A photocopy of their paper complete with the assessors' comment is also acceptable, and it can be mailed to: Dr Andrew Gorman-Murray, University of Western Sydney at: a.gorman-murray@uws.edu.au.

Notes on Articles for Electronic Submission:


General

  • Articles should be submitted in HTML (if possible) or MS-Word (IBM) format.
  • Articles should be no longer than 5000 words.
  • All notes should be presented as Endnotes and not Footnotes.
  • Page numbers should be removed.
  • Font should be Times New Roman, 12 point (except title and author's name).
  • Single line spacing.
  • A line space should be inserted between paragraphs.
  • Page margins should be 3cm right and left.
  • All text should be left aligned.
  • Two levels of heading can be used. Major headings should be in bold, secondary headings should be italicised.
  • Two line spaces should be inserted before major headings, and one line space before minor headings. One line space should be inserted after each heading.

Title Page

  • Articles should have a title.
  • Title should be all Capitals, Bold, 18 point.
  • The authors name should be all Capitals, 14 point, below the title. An endnote should accompany the author's name stating: degree being studied, year level at the time of writing, name of the course for which the paper was initially written, school/department and university name, and any other information the author feels relevant.

Abstract and Keywords

  • An abstract of 50-100 words should be provided with the article.
  • The abstract should be italicised.
  • A list of no more than six key words should follow the abstract.

References

  • All references should follow the Harvard format as outlined in Hay, I. Bochner, D. & Dungey, C. 2006, Making the Grade, 3rd ed., Oxford University Press, Melbourne.

Units of Measure

  • SI units must be used (i.e. metric)
  • Figures quoted as a percentage should appear in the form: 10 per cent (except in tables or figures)
  • Dates should be in the form: 21 September 2009.

Tables, Figures and Illustrations

  • Writing in tables and on figures should be in 12 point unless this causes a table of A4 size to exceed the page.
  • The original of any table, figure or illustration should also be submitted as a separate attachment (scanned where applicable).
  • Headings should be in the form: Figure 1Number of wild male donkeys in the Flinders between 1950 and 1990.
  • Sources should be in the form: Source: Ranger (2009, p. 11).
  • In-text references to tables, figures and illustrations should appear as full text. For example, Figure 1.
