Project
Children's memory for traumatic events.
Although intrusive memories are a key feature of childhood posttraumatic
stress disorder (PTSD), few studies have investigated the underlying mechanisms
of these symptoms. My PhD research will explore the cognitive processes
leading to and maintaining Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in children,
with the aim of enhancing our understanding of children's processing of
traumatic events. A key goal of this research will be to explore the relationship
between childrens' memories for traumatic experiences and their posttrauma
adjustment.
