Project
Therapeutic writing for eating disorders - what type of writing is
most helpful?
Research has demonstrated positive psychological and health outcomes
for therapeutic writing with regard to traumatic experiences as well as
non-trauma related topics, such as the benefits of an experience, problem-solving
strategies and planning for the future.
Few studies have examined therapeutic writing for disordered eating or
body image. Given the difficulties in finding effective treatments for
individuals with Anorexia Nervosa, it is important that this relatively
simple, low-cost intervention is explored with this population.
