Guidelines and Application Form

The VRF round for 2008 is now closed. The guidelines and application form, above, are intended for information only. It is expected that the new guidelines and application form will be available for the first round of 2009 late in December 2008.

The general aim of the program is to provide funds which will assist visits to Flinders University by distinguished researchers or researchers with particular skills or expertise, designed to enhance the research output of the University. Support is intended to bring bona fide visitors to the University, and will not be granted to upgrade the salary level of short-term staff already employed at the University.

Please note (Guideline 2) that academic status needs to be organised for the visitor prior to their arrival.

By certifying their support for the VRF application, the Head of the academic organisational unit concerned is indicating to the Faculty that:

• the proposed visitor can be accommodated in the unit;
• the necessary facilities are available to enable the proposed visitor to carry out their proposed research; and
• they recommend to the Executive Dean that the proposed visitor be appointed as a Visiting Scholar.

If the VRF application is successful, and the Executive Dean approves the proposed visitor’s appointment, a letter of invitation will be sent to the visitor from Central Administration.

Note: This letter of invitation from Central Administration is required for overseas visitors to gain a visiting academic visa (the visa for academics from overseas who have been invited to visit an Australian tertiary institution or research institution for the purpose of observing, or participating in, research at the institution).
