Research Interests

Fiona’s current recent research (all of which is collaborative) is in the following areas:

  • Impacts of the closure of an Automotive Plant (ARC funded)
  • Insurance and the unravelling of civil society
  • Community capacity building
  • Evaluation of Eat Well Be Active

Fiona Verity joined the School in early 2004 after holding a similar position at the University of South Australia. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Newcastle University (2000). She worked for many years in community development and community health areas in Adelaide.

Fiona currently teaches social planning and social policy and is the co-ordinator of the Honours program.
